CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT: No report
COMMISSIONS:
YOUTH: Maureen Dahdah reported the following:
The S.A.M.Y. members had their dance on May 13th. Approximately 45 teens attended. To date, approximately 26 members with 4 advisors are going to the convention in July. Recently, the teens helped serve dinner at the “Tony and Maria’s Wedding”, and helped to host the concert of Patricio and Claudya Molina on May 22. Their officer elections have been moved to the June 5th meeting.
EDUCATION: MaryBeth Byrouty reported that the Sunday school classes completed their school year with a “Jesus Day” celebration and class performances held on May 15. It was enjoyed by all. The teachers will have an “end of the year” dinner at the rectory on May 17.
FINANCE: No report
BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE: The committee settled with an engineering company who surveyed the property, and said that 114 feet of piping will have to be replaced for a cost of $40,000. A 30-foot replacement with another company would have cost $70,000. However, the cost does not include removal of the Our Lady of America chapel, which Gary Kayal has done. The work will begin the first or second week in June, and should be completed by the end of June. The engineering company, Bozwel, will get a contractor to do the work.
LITURGICAL: No report
STEWARDSHIP: The Tony and Maria’s Wedding dinner affair was a success, with approximately 200 people attending, and made a profit of approximately $2,000. The calendar for 2006 was discussed.
CHARITABLE: Marianne Gerro and Fred Lozy reported that the society is continuing to attend to the needy, and also reported that the golf outing is scheduled for June 28th and they need more sponsors and golfers. The date for the Charity Ball is set for February 10, 2006. A discussion followed on ways of raising money for scholarships.
COMMUNICATIONS: It was suggested that a “get well” card be sent to Barbara Hanczarak. Also, Nicole Dabagian will send next month’s meeting reminder to all council members.

Sami has been very pleased with the present council. He said that this is a “council with a vision”, with lots of ideas. He said that the council’s structure has change over the past ten years, and that the present council is more involved with improving the pastoral and social life of our church. Fr. Sami is very pleased and confident in the enthusiasm that the council members have shown.

ICONOGRAPHY SEMINAR: The seminar held on March 12 was successful, however, the council members noted that the people wanted to stay longer, and enjoyed having it in church. About 50 people were in attendance. In the future, it was suggested that the seminar be announced earlier and advertised in the bulletin.
FAMILY BREAKFAST: This is scheduled for September 11, 2005. Brownstone will cater, with the exception of the mamouneeh, which will be made by Mary Tahan and Marianne Gerro.
RAFFLE: The drawing for the four prizes, which will be a Mercury Mountaineer, a 50” Plasma TV, a $3,000 gift certificate for travel, and “his and her’s” Movado watches, will take place at the family breakfast on September 11 at 11:00 AM. Tickets are ready for distribution. Only 600 tickets will be sold. The car will be on the church’s premises next week so that it can be seen. It was suggested that a table for ticket sales be placed outside the church. Lara Foster will make fliers for advertising the raffle.
POT LUCK DINNER: A dinner for all council members and their spouses will be held at the church hall on Thursday evening, June 30. Each council member will bring either food or dessert.
