SAMY was organized to promote a sense of family within the church and to teach the members how to be good stewards of their church. It also offers the opportunity to meet other Melkite youth around the country.
SAMY is open to all the youth of the parish between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. They meet monthly, usually on the third Sunday of the month in the Parish Center or at someone's home when there is a special program.
There are several trips taken throughout the year by the SAMY group. Regional Retreats (sometimes hosted here), National Retreats, sites determined by the National Director, hockey games, ice skating, golf and Great Adventure to name a few. Regional Retreats are weekend trips, National Retreats are 5 days, and other events are day trips. Retreats are filled with services, lectures, meals and fellowship. Our day trips are designed to bring the youth together and have fun. All trips are supervised by the Spiritual Director and Leaders of the SAMY group. The trips are funded through various fund raisers during the year as well as through parent support.
